Baby Strollers – Learn About the Various Types of Strollers for Babies

Which Baby Strollers to Choose

From the time we are young, we are inundated with idyllic images of young couples on Sunday with their baby strollers in the park with their perfect bundle of joy in their charming little baby buggy. In reality, that’s rarely the way things go. Most of us don’t have time for a Sunday stroll, let alone getting baby all gussied up for the outing. That doesn’t mean we don’t like to take the little one out for walks. It’s healthy, for both you and baby. Still, maybe the baby buggy is not your style. Thankfully, there a wide variety of baby strollers to choose from.

Types of Baby Strollers

One of the more traditional types of baby strollers are the umbrella strollers. We’ve all seen them. These basic fold up strollers have no extra storage space, are super light weight and portable, and keep baby snug with a small clothe pouch that they sit in. Though not ideal for children who cannot hold their head up, this is a great little baby stroller.

The baby strollers that are very practical are the lightweight strollers. At less than 20 lbs., they are easy to fold up and maneuver. Many come with reclining seats and sun shades, as well as some form of storage underneath. The only complaint about these is that they are not traditionally very sturdy, so they may not last longer than one child.

The standard stroller is a bit larger and bulkier than their lightweight counterparts, but these baby strollers tend to come with a few more bells and whistles. With wider seats, larger wheels and more varied storage areas (ex. coffee or cell phone holders), these can be great for long day trips. The draw back with these types of infant strollers is that they are much more difficult to lug about. Many are sold as travel systems, as well. This means they will be sold with an infant carrier and car seat, which does make life a little bit easier, and allows you to use the same car seat for longer.

Other Baby Strollers to Consider

The running strollers are meant for those on the go! Did you worry that, post-baby, you would never be able to go for your beloved morning runs again? Think twice! Running and baby jogging strollers today are lightweight, easy to maneuver, and perfect for taking your little one for a run. The large wheels make them much easier to push, and the three wheel design make them the perfect baby stroller for fast, tight turns.

The buggy baby strollers may seem a bit old fashioned, but it’s cute that way. These elevated, lay flat infant strollers can be wonderful for taking infants out, as it allows them to lay flat, as though in their own bed, while you get some fresh air. It also has them at a higher elevation than most traditional strollers for babies, so it is easier for you to put them and take them out. They do have two downsides though. For one, they are usually tremendously expensive. Making things worse, they are also very limited in use. Once your child can roll, a buggy is more dangerous than anything.
